CBP Officers Seize Load of Marijuana in Vehicles Dash

Naco, Ariz. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a drug-smuggling attempt when they seized about 50 pounds of marijuana concealed in the dash of a vehicle.

On November 27 at about 4:30 p.m. CBP officers were screening travelers when they became suspicious of a 1991 Chevrolet Lumina being driven by a 27-year-old man from Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. A CBP narcotics detection K-9 team searched the man’s vehicle and discovered that the dash of the Lumina was loaded with packages of marijuana. CBP officers seized approximately 50 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $80,000.

CBP officers seized the vehicle and the marijuana. The man was turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation and prosecution.
