CBP in Atlanta Apprehends 2 Wanted Fugitives

Atlanta — United States Customs and Border Protection officers at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport arrested two individuals wanted for sexual assault and forgery charges, officials announced today.

The first arrest occurred on January 28, when CBP officers encountered 34-year-old U.S. citizen Daerel Alexander arriving from Milan, Italy. During routine inspection it was discovered that Alexander was wanted for multiple sexual assault charges out of Hawaii. A second arrest occurred on January 29, when CBP officers encountered 46-year-old Honduras citizen Pablo Majano arriving from San Pedro Sula, Honduras. After checking CBP databases, it was discovered that Majano was wanted for forgery charges out of Georgia.

After both individuals were identified and the warrants confirmed, they were arrested and turned over to the Atlanta Police Department for extradition. Majano is a lawful permanent resident of the United States and is pending deportation proceedings once his criminal proceedings are completed.

“These latest arrests highlight the important mission our officers have of safeguarding our citizens against wanted fugitives,” said Stephen Kremer, area port director in Atlanta.

During fiscal year 2009, more than 9,500 people wanted for a variety of charges, to include serious criminal crimes such as murder, rape, and child molestation were apprehended at CBP ports of entry.
