Alleged Sex Offender Surrenders to CBP Officers at Presidio Port

Man Wanted in Oklahoma for Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a Child

Presidio, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Presidio port of entry took custody of a man wanted by Oklahoma authorities on an outstanding warrant. CBP officers used the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System to confirm the warrant.

The arrest was made just before 2 p.m. Wednesday when 35-year-old David Thiessen Dyck entered the port and advised CBP officers that he was wanted in Guymon, Okla. CBP officers performed an IAFIS query which revealed that Dyck was being sought on lewd and lascivious acts with a minor charges. CBP officers confirmed the warrant information and then contacted the Presidio police department. Presidio police took custody of Dyck and booked him into the county jail.

“CBP officers also were able to determine that Dyck had been living and working illegally in the United States for a number of years,” said John Prewit, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Presidio port director. “He will be returned to CBP to face charges related to his illegal entry upon conclusion of his prosecution in Oklahoma.”

Dyck has dual Mexican and Canadian citizenship but not was authorized to live or work in the United States.

While anti-terrorism is the primary mission of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the inspection process at the ports of entry associated with this mission results in impressive numbers of enforcement actions in all categories.
